2003... What Will It Be?

In 2002 everyone worked hard to make results good. People worked longer hours with less resources and were focused on reaching bottom-line targets. It is my sincere hope that your year has been good and something you can be proud of.

It's clear that as we close a very challenging 2002 that we appear to be in for more challenging times in 2003. Experts are mixed about where the economy is going, we have a potential war looming, and there are no magic wands to make business better.

What will you do to make 2003 be the year you, and your organization, are proud of? I can assure you that 2003 will be whatever you determine it to be. What you determine it to be will be governed not so much by outside factors or the actions of others, but by your actions and the actions of those in your organization.

Those who succeed in reaching their objectives in 2003 will be those who begin with clear objectives, those who take purposeful action, and those who think outside the box and innovate.

Every time we turned around in 2002 we heard of reductions in head count, budgets being cut to "become leaner and meaner," and ensure the bottom-line was acceptable. The good news is that these types of actions improved bottom-line profits but now there is little left to cut. So what so we do now?

Those who want to expand and grow in 2003 have to do so by improving their top-line.
